Earlswood tip opens 8am to 4pm weekdays and 9am to 4pm at weekends, no booking needed. It shuts at 2pm on Christmas Eve and is closed on Christmas Day.

The tip for Reigate and Redhill is Earlswood Community Recycling Centre on Horley Road, RH1 6PN. It is open every day, 8am to 4pm on weekdays and 9am to 4pm at weekends, and you do not need to book.

Surrey County Council runs it, not Reigate & Banstead, which is why the rules below are the county’s. Banstead and Tadworth households are often nearer Epsom, which is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The quick answer

  • Earlswood: open 7 days, 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday. No booking.
  • Christmas: closes at 2pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, and is shut on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
  • Bring proof of address on your first visit, and a £10 permit if you come in a van, pickup or trailer.

Christmas and New Year opening

All three centres follow the same county rule for bank holidays:

Earlswood, Epsom and Leatherhead over Christmas 2026 and New Year 2027, applying Surrey County Council's published bank holiday rules
DateOpening
Thursday 24 December (Christmas Eve)Closes at 2pm
Friday 25 December (Christmas Day)Closed
Saturday 26 December (Boxing Day)Closed
Monday 28 December (bank holiday)The county says "all other bank holidays: usual opening hours apply"; see below
Thursday 31 December (New Year's Eve)Closes at 2pm
Friday 1 January (New Year's Day)Closed

One date is not spelt out. The county’s pages say the centres close on “Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day”, and that usual hours apply on “all other bank holidays”. This year Boxing Day falls on a Saturday and the bank holiday moves to Monday 28 December (GOV.UK). On the county’s wording, 26 December is closed and the Monday should run normal hours, but it has not said so for 2026. We will confirm it before Christmas. Epsom is shut on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in any case, so 29 and 30 December are closed days there.

Christmas trees

If you do not pay for the council’s garden waste collection, take your real tree to Earlswood or Epsom as garden waste. Garden waste subscribers can leave it by the brown bin in January instead; the details are on our Christmas bin collections page.

Before you go

  • Proof of address on the first visit. A driving licence, this year’s council tax bill, a recent utility bill, a Surrey bus pass or any official document with your name and address. Staff then give you a Surrey resident sticker for the car window (Surrey County Council).
  • No booking. The county says you do not need to book a visit to any Surrey centre (Surrey County Council).
  • No pedestrians. Earlswood, Epsom and Leatherhead are for vehicles only. Children up to year 6 must stay in the car, children in year 7 and above must be with an adult, and pets stay in the vehicle.
  • Vans, pickups and trailers need a permit. It costs £10 a year, is valid for 12 months and allows 12 visits, one per household (Surrey County Council).
  • Tyres cost £5 each at all three centres. Bicycle tyres and inner tubes are free.

DIY and building waste

Earlswood, Epsom and Leatherhead all accept construction and DIY waste. Items such as doors, kitchen units, fencing, radiators and flooring are free in any amount from a car. Rubble, soil, plasterboard, tiles and bathroom porcelain are free only up to a limit and no more than once every seven days by car; above that you are charged (Surrey County Council).

Asbestos goes only to Epsom, Guildford or Shepperton, never Earlswood or Leatherhead.

The Revive shop at Earlswood

Earlswood has a Revive reuse shop selling items handed in at the centre. It keeps the site’s hours but closes from 1.30pm to 2pm. Tell staff when you arrive if you are bringing something that could be reused.
