Parking in Reigate is cheaper than most people assume, and the difference between the car parks is smaller than you would expect. The borough council runs six car parks in Reigate and three in Redhill, and beyond the first hour almost all of them charge exactly the same. This guide sets out every council car park in both towns, the 2026 charges, when parking is free, what a season ticket costs and what happens if you get a ticket, with each figure linked to the council’s own page.
Every car park below is run by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council. Chargeable hours across all of them are 8am to 6pm.
The quick answer
Sundays and bank holidays are free in every council car park in Reigate and Redhill. On a paid day, the cheapest first hour in Reigate is Upper West Street at £1.60, and in Redhill it is Linkfield Corner at £1.60. For a full day, Redhill is 20p cheaper than Reigate at £7.60 against £7.80. If you park regularly, a season ticket changes the maths entirely.
Reigate car parks and 2026 charges
Reigate has six council car parks. Two of them, Town Hall and London Road, are weekend-only sites and charge on Saturdays.

What it means for you: past the two hour mark every Reigate car park costs the same, so choose on convenience, not price. Under an hour, Upper West Street saves you 10p over the others, which is not a reason to walk further. The genuinely useful distinction is capacity.
Bancroft Road is much the largest with 357 spaces, of which 191 are long stay and 51 short stay, plus nine disabled bays and five parent and toddler bays. Bell Street has 112 spaces weighted the other way, 72 of them short stay, which makes it the better bet for a quick errand. Upper West Street has 108 spaces and is almost entirely long stay. Priory Way (RH2 8JU) is a five space site with three short stay and two disabled bays, useful only if you are lucky. The two weekend car parks, Town Hall with 138 spaces and London Road with 48, absorb Saturday shopping demand.
Redhill car parks and 2026 charges
Redhill has three council car parks, all of them cheaper than Reigate beyond three hours.

Gloucester Road is the big one at 285 spaces, every one of them long stay, with two disabled bays. Clarendon Road has 191 spaces, again all long stay, with four disabled bays. Both are built for commuters and all-day shoppers rather than quick stops. Linkfield Corner is the small one at 56 spaces, 12 of them short stay, and it is a few pence cheaper up to three hours.
What it means for you: if you are choosing between the two towns for a full day out, Redhill saves you 20p and has far more long stay capacity. Reigate has the short stay bays.
When parking is free
Three situations, all confirmed on the council’s own car park pages:
- Sundays and bank holidays. Every car park listed above is free. This is the single most useful fact on this page.
- Motorcycles. Free in any marked motorcycle bay or pay and display bay.
- Blue badge holders. Free in any marked disabled bay or pay and display bay, provided the badge is correctly displayed.
Outside chargeable hours of 8am to 6pm there is no charge either, so an evening in Reigate costs nothing.
Season tickets
If you park in the same town several days a week, the pay and display rate stops making sense. The council sells three types of season ticket, priced from 1 June 2026.

What it means for you: an annual workday ticket at £680 works out around £4.36 for each of the roughly 156 days it covers, against £7.80 for a ten hour stay in Reigate. If you commute three days a week it pays for itself comfortably. You do not have to live in the borough to buy one, and tickets start from the beginning of a calendar month. A replacement costs £20 quarterly or £80 annually, and changing your details for a re-issue is £5.
Paying, and what a ticket costs you
RingGo cashless parking works in every council car park. You can use the app, the RingGo website or phone 01737 880 022.
If you get a Penalty Charge Notice, the amount depends on the contravention. Parking without paying, overstaying paid-for time, or not displaying a valid ticket are £50 offences. The more serious ones, including parking in a suspended bay, a restricted area or an electric vehicle charging bay without charging, are £70, per the council’s parking regulations table. Pay or challenge within 14 days and the discounted rate of £25 or £35 applies, as set out on the challenge a parking fine page.
One thing worth knowing before you challenge: if you pay at the discounted rate, the council treats the matter as closed and you lose the right to make formal representations. It will re-open a case and refund the payment within three months if you ask in writing, but the simpler route is to decide first and pay second.
On-street parking is not the council’s job
This trips up a lot of residents. Since 1 April 2023, on-street parking across the borough has been the responsibility of Surrey County Council, not Reigate & Banstead. That includes new resident permit applications and renewals, resident visitor permits, and operational and carers’ permits. The borough council’s residents parking page now simply redirects people to Surrey’s parking permit schemes. If your query is about a permit for your street, a yellow line or an on-street bay, it goes to Surrey.
The rest of the borough
For completeness, since the same season ticket rules apply across all of it:
- Banstead High Street is the cheapest short stay in the borough: 70p for 20 minutes, £1.60 for an hour, £2.10 for two hours and £2.80 for three, with a full ten hours at £6.40. See Banstead and Tattenham Corner car parks.
- Tattenham Corner is free for up to three hours, though you still have to take a ticket from the machine and display it, and £3.40 beyond that. On Derby, Oaks and Ladies Day race days a flat £20 charge applies, payable only by RingGo.
- Horley has three car parks, The High Street, Central and Victoria Road, where the first 20 minutes are free with a machine ticket and ten hours costs £6.50. Note that Surrey County Council regeneration works in Horley High Street have taken over part of the High Street car park, and permit holders have been directed to Central or Victoria Road while the work continues, per the council’s Horley car parks page.
